I passed my final ords last Monday! Now I can write my PIF, do my final assessment, preach the candidating sermon and be examined for ordination! Did I miss anything? Probably!
All that still ahead, the first month of non-ordained ministry has been a great time. I have my first wedding (tentatively) planned for next summer, I’m helping with a baptism this week, I’m planning and leading worship at our contemporary service, I’m playing/singing in the praise band, I preached all three services two weeks ago, and I went on the Senior High youth mission trip to Denver the week before I was actually employed (which included climbing a 14-er, well at least the last few hundred feet. Dr. C. wouldn’t let me count that for “climbing” I’d be willing to guess!) And, just when I was wondering what to do with all our empty boxes from moving, the Senior Pastor announced that he was leaving to take the position of General Presbyter! (I knew that was a possibility before accepting the position, so it really wasn’t a shocker for me.) Needless to say, I haven’t spent too much time on line. Ministry has been great though, absolutely great.
We have moved into our new home and are still in the process of painting and fixing all the “little” things. Right now we think it would be nice to be able to sit out back in the midst of tall weeds and complain about how the session isn’t taking care of the manse! Well, at least I’m thinking that – right now. Hopefully we will get all the “little” things taken care of before too long. You are all welcome to stop by, but do beware, if you stop by or stay over I may very well put you to work!
Kris and the kids are adjusting to their new roles as well. Members of the church have been showing them around town, introducing them to people and helping get all the paperwork for school registration taken care of – school starts August 23.
Blessings to all of you as we continue on our new journeys.
